Teachers, if you are interested in enhancing your lessons these Kits are for you! There is a variety of themes and subjects to choose from. Kits contain hands-on objects, photographs, activities, labels, instructions, and historical
materials. Except for Becoming Human, these Kits can be used by any grade level. The level of study and complexity of content is determined by the teacher. Kits are available for a $20.00 non-refundable rental fee per week, except Becoming Human which is $30.00 per week. - Fun and Games - An assortment of Native American games ready to play. Kit includes instructions and historical background materials.
- We Saw Him First! - Meet the Taino of San Salvador Island, the Bahamas, who were the first to encounter Columbus. Information panels, photographs, teacher’s guide, activities, excerpts from primary source documents and hands on artifacts are included.
- First in Carolina - Kit contains an array of authentic Yadkin River Valley Native American tools with information panels about archaeology and its discoveries into the lives of the first Carolinians.
- It's a Small World - Kit contains a collection of African objects made of materials recycled from all over the world. Discusses recycling and the influences of globalization on the exchange of goods and ideas between Africa and America. Kit is accompanied by teacher’s guide and labels.
- Chinese Folk Art - Kit contains objects that represent modern arts of ordinary people that have their roots in ancient Chinese folk art traditions. Included are objects illustrating various arts and skills (calculation, writing, theater, personal possessions, etc.), labels and teacher’s guide.
- Shake, Rattle and Roll - A box full of assorted African instruments for students to examine and play. Included is an information packet with photographs and suggested activities.
- Elephants, Snakes and Crocs, Oh My! - Kit has hands-on one and two dimensional African art with animal themes and looks at African approaches to art. Objects, labels with stories and proverbs, picture card observational activities and teacher’s guide included.
- Maya: A Continuing People - Kit explores the accomplishments of the Maya ancestors and looks at surviving Maya arts and daily life. Included are teacher’s guide, activities, books, photographs, labels, authentic objects and replicas.
- Becoming Human (High School) - Trunk has non-human primate, hominid and human skeletal materials and casts. It discusses the development of the primate biological model that leads to modern humans. Accompanied by teaching materials, lesson plans, and introductory CD.
