Applying to the Program

Regular Admission —

Admission to the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program is handled through the office of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. For information about application procedures, please visit their Admissions Home Page.

Please see the Special Requirement Page for further information about Liberal Studies Admissions.

Sampling Courses/Unclassified Status —

Persons who wish to sample the Liberal Studies program must apply through the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences as an Unclassified student. Information about applying is located at the Admissions - Unclassified Students page. Courses must be taken for credit; only degree-seeking status students who have completed two MALS courses, and alumni of the program, may audit MALS courses.

Students who are Unclassified will be enrolled in classes only after all degree-seeking students have enrolled and if there is still room in the class. Typically Unclassified students are not enrolled until one month before the start of the semester.
