Alton M. Hill

Coordinator, Deacon OneCard

hillam@wfu.edu

Hello! I'm Al. Since June 2000, I have served as the ID Card Operations Administrator, of the Deacon OneCard Office. I am responsible for acquiring and managing critical and timely data and information for all students, faculty, staff, employees and others who work on the Reynolda Campus, in order to make initial and replacement ID cards

I also serve as the Campus Vending Services Point-of-Contact/Coordinator, which involves liaison with all the vendors, who serve the campus to ensure vendor parity and quality product vending at a competitive market price; as well as monitoring the type, condition and serviceability of the machines which vend the products. Additionally, I provide basic technical service and advice for the card readers installed on the various machines.

In May 1998, I retired from University Police following 25 years of service. Thirteen of the twenty-five years with University Police, I served in administration as Chief of Campus Police and Director of Public Safety. My educational and professional background is in electronic technology, math and computer science, business, finance and law enforcement. I was in business and finance for over 10 years, law enforcement and electronic/computer technology for almost 33 years.

I enjoy Wake Forest and its people, especially the students, and the educational opportunities and challenges offered by the University. I am just as excited in my present role as I have been in my past ones. I like to think that each day I contribute something to someone, in their academic endeavors, especially real life experiences, as others contribute to mine.
