Spring Housing and Dining Membership Information
Students have an opportunity to change room assignments and/or meal
plans for the Spring Semester. Students who are
leaving Wake Forest University for any reason must
officially request to
terminate campus housing and dining membership
and consequently not incur charges for the
Spring Semester. Also, those
students studying abroad during the Fall Semester
are officially assigned to campus housing and a
meal plan for the Spring Semester. All students
scheduled to study abroad during the Spring Semester
can guarantee their housing and meal plan for
the next academic year by designating a proxy to
act on their behalf during the Fall Room Selection
process.

Changing Room Assignments
Some students want to make a room change for the spring
semester. Because of mid-year graduations and the
spring Study Abroad program, many students
want to "Pull-In" a new roommate of choice rather than have
a stranger assigned to the room. Students interested
in making a change in their current room assignment,
roommate or meal plan should submit a Spring
Room Change Request form to the Office of Residence
Life and Housing in Benson University Center 101
by noon on the first Thursday of November.
Changing Dining Membership Plan
If you are interested in changing your Dining Membership for the Spring 2008 semester, please submit the Dining Membership Change Request form to Benson 101 by noon on the first Thursday of November. Students must adhere to the residence hall and class year minimums.
Requesting a Single Room
To request a single room, students should complete Section I of the Spring
Room Change Request form. Any available single
space outside of Theme / Greek Block Housing will
be filled in priority number order (based on the
same priority number from the Fall Room Selection
process during the previous Spring Semester). The
Office of Residence Life and Housing
will contact the student should space become available.
Typically very few, if any, single spaces become
available for the Spring Semester.
Theme/Greek Block Housing
To request a room change to or within Theme/Greek Block Housing, students
should complete Section II of the Spring
Room Change Request form and obtain the necessary
signature from the adviser, coordinator, or president
of the Theme/Greek Housing Area. Students currently
assigned to Theme/Greek Block Housing are only eligible
to move within their designated housing blocks. Students
who are currently assigned to, or move into, a Theme/Greek
Housing Area are not permitted
to move outside of the Theme/Greek Housing Area for
the remainder of the academic year.
"Pull-In" A Roommate
If a resident has a vacancy in their room during the Fall Semester,
or one roommate is leaving at the end of the Fall
Semester, the remaining roommate may "Pull-In' a new roommate of
choice rather than having one assigned randomly
by the Office of Residence Life and Housing. The
person chosen to be pulled into the room with the
vacancy must complete the Spring
Room Change Request form as the person requesting
a room change. The person with the vacancy or impending
vacancy, must complete and sign Section III of their
form as the "Pull-er" indicating
agreement to have that person pulled into the room.
Change Rooms and/or Buildings
To request to move within or to another building, students must complete
Section IV of the Spring
Room Change Request form making
sure to indicate only acceptable building/room
preferences for a new assignment. Any specific
requests should be made in the "Other" section
at the bottom of the form.
Leaving Campus Housing
Any student currently assigned to any campus housing location who is
leaving Wake Forest University for any reason (i.e.,
studying abroad, graduating, transferring to another
school, going home, etc.) must petition
to be released from their Housing/Dining Membership
Agreement. The
Petition to be Released
form must be completed and returned to
the Office of Residence Life and Housing,
Benson University Center 101 by noon on the first Thursday of November.
Studying Abroad
If a resident student's plan for the upcoming Spring Semester includes
studying abroad, the student must officially petition
to be released from their Housing
Agreement by completing the Petition
to be Released form. Students can indicate
a Proxy on this form. A Proxy is another student
chosen to act on their behalf in choosing a room
assignment and meal plan for the next academic
year through the Fall Room Selection process which
is held during the spring semester. Students who
fail to indicate a Proxy will not be assigned a
room on campus or meal plan and will have their
status changed from "Residential" to "Non-Residential",
resulting in the loss of guaranteed campus housing.
Graduating
If a resident student is scheduled to graduate in December, the student
should complete the Petition
to be Released form and return it to the
Office of Residence Life and Housing, Benson University
Center 101. The deadline to submit this form and avoid cancellation
fees is noon
on the first Thursday of November.
Leaving Wake Forest University
All students residing in campus housing and planning to discontinue
enrollment must petition to be released from their
Housing Agreement and provide supporting documentation from the Office
of the Dean of
the College showing they are officially leaving
Wake Forest University. All information provided is subject to verification.
Students who plan
to leave Wake Forest University should complete
the Petition
to be Released form and return it to the
Office of Residence Life and Housing, Benson University
Center 101. The deadline to submit this form and avoid cancellation
fees is noon
on the first Thursday of November.
Moving Off Campus
Students living on campus during the fall semester who desire to move off campus in the spring should first review the Off-Campus Housing Policy and Process .
All petitions for release from the current academic year Housing Agreement
will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are
not guaranteed. Students should be aware that official
release from the Housing Agreement is
required prior to signing any off-campus lease.
Also, release from the current academic year Housing
Agreement does not guarantee approval
through the Off Campus Housing Process nor release
from the Dining Membership Agreement. Students
who desire to petition to be released from the current
academic year Housing Agreement should complete
the Petition
to be Released form and return it, along
with an attached detailed explanation as to why
they desire to move off campus, to the Office of
Residence Life and Housing, Benson University Center
101 by noon on the first Thursday of November.
Notification
Regardless of the outcome of a request for change or petition for release,
the student will receive notification to their campus email which outlines instructions
about moving to the new assignment or that
the request or petition was denied. All moves must
take place prior to the building closing for winter break.
If the new assignment is not ready for
the student to move into, the student must completely
check-out of the old room and wait until the Spring
Semester to check into the new assignment.
If the student has petitioned to be released from
the Housing Agreement, but the results are pending,
all housing and meal plan charges will continue
to accrue and are the student's responsibility
until the student is officially released, in writing,
from the Housing Agreement and/or Dining Membership
Agreement.
