Construction of New Residence Hall
Residence hall construction is underway on South Campus west of Collins Hall. Wake Forest is working with Hanbury, Evans, Wright, & Vlattas Architects, and Frank L. Blum Construction for the new residence hall, scheduled for a fall 2010 opening. The facility will accommodate just over 200 students, with amenities such as floor kitchens, laundry rooms, recreation room, a high-tech media room, and formal lounge. Sustainability, technology, and innovation played a big role in planning throughout the 2008-2009 academic year. The new residence hall was planned, and is being constructed, with the goal of achieving LEED Silver certification.
November 2009 progress update and photos
November
Much of the month of November will be spent framing the attic, starting the exterior brick, and preparing for the structural steel roof. On the interior of the building, plumbing and electrical rough ins are being completed and work is beginning on the second and third floors.
Please look forward to regular progress updates from Residence Life & Housing.
