Role & Responsibility of the RA Building Staffs

  • The Resident Adviser staff will not have responsibility for supervising social events hosted by student organizations or for monitoring the conduct of the host’s members or guests within the confines of the event. The resident advisers will continue to be responsible for all activities beyond the physical boundaries of the event; and the procedures for referring individual students involved in alleged violations will remain the same. Resident Advisers will be available to the host organization(s) in the event of an emergency or problem situation by contacting the central desk of their residence hall.
  • Hall Directors do have administrative responsibility to respond to problems that may arise at registered social functions within their building (i.e., excessive noise, observed underage possession, disruptive behavior, etc.). They should address such problems in consultation with the compliance adviser and/or University Police personnel to arrive at an agreed upon course of action. Hall Directors should also submit written reports to the Office of Residence Life and Housing documenting such issues. This information will be forwarded to the Coordinator of Greek Affairs. The hall director has the authority to close events where imminent danger to persons or property exists.
