Rush Tips

Here are some helpful tips for a Successful Recruitment Week:

Be yourself! There is nothing more important than being yourself during Rush. You’ll end up with the right fraternity for you, and you’ll be happy with your decision.

Evaluate each fraternity carefully. It is important to make an individual decision about which fraternities you will focus on during Rush. Make sure to compare fraternities and pick the one that has the most important ideals for you.

Take your time. Joining a fraternity is a momentous decision and one that will affect the rest of your life. Be sure that the fraternity that has given you a bid is one in which you will be happy. You do not have to accept a bid.

Dry Rush. Alcohol is not allowed at any Rush activities. National and local policies stipulate that all activities associated with Fraternity Rush remain alcohol free.

Ask Questions. Make sure all your questions are sufficiently answered. Some possible questions you may want to ask are:

        • What is your new member education (pledge) period like? What is its purpose?

        • What are the time and financial commitments involved in joining your fraternity?

        • What are the grade requirements?
What are some of your social activities?

        • What makes your fraternity unique?

        • How does the new member/pledge program build brotherhood?
