Being in a fraternity can help you in all aspects of your life. Chapters provide programming, resources, tools, and aid that will help develop you in many different areas.
Besides the areas mentioned above such as leadership, scholarship, etc, fraternities provide you with resources to grow in these areas as well.
Physically – Fraternities participate in numerous physical activities. The largest of these is intramural sports which includes teams in football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, tennis, bowling and water polo. Fraternities compete against one another in competition for the “Intramural Cup” given to the top athletic fraternity on campus.
Spiritually – The Greek system provides an outlet for your own personal spiritual growth. Fraternities support and encourage spiritual growth through weekly devotionals, prayer requests, and more to aid you in your religious life. Many fraternities and sororities come together weekly for bible studies held on campus. It’s a time for praise and worship for members of the Greek community, led by their fellow Greeks.
Maturity – By holding each other accountable and believing in an organization larger than themselves, Greeks develop a sense of purpose and maturity that takes many a long time to discover.
Social Life – One of the most recognizable aspects of fraternity life is the social life. Greeks have a lot of fun. Through dinners, date parties, open parties, brotherhood events, and campus-wide events, fraternities provide you with the opportunity to develop your social side.
Alumni Support – When you graduate, fraternities provide you with a built-in network of alumni to help you with your job search. Whether it is helping develop your resume', writing letters of recommendation, pointing you in the right direction, or directly hiring you for a position, alumni help their fellow alumni succeed in life after college. Greek Life is not just about helping you be successful in college, but in life as well. Many members of the Wake Forest Board of Trustees are members of fraternities.
Member Education – Fraternities seek to educate their members in an effort to prepare them for life after college. Programs and seminars are held in fraternity lounges and academic classrooms each semester to teach members personal skills such as etiquette, resume' building, and time management.
