   July 16, 1945:  U.S. tests first atomic bomb at Alamogordo, New Mexico.
  Aug. 6, 1945:  U.S. drops A-bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.
  Aug. 9, 1945:  U.S. drops second A-bomb on Nagasaki, Japan.
 1946:  Baruch plan proposed 1949:  NATO founded as a defense against U.S.S.R. and Warsaw Pact in Europe
  1957:  Khurshchev tests ICBM.  He reduces the Red Army in size, for a greater use of long-range missiles
  Oct. 15, 1962:  Reconnaissance photographs reveal Soviet missiles being built in Cuba.  Beginning of Cuban Missile Crisis.
June 20, 1963:  "Hot Line" Agreement signed  
July 25, 1963:  Limited Test Ban Treaty signed November 22, 1963:  J.F.K. assassinated in Dallas, Tx.
Feb. 14, 1967:  Treaty of Tlatelolco signed  
March 5, 1970:  Nonproliferation Treaty goes into effect  
September 30, 1971:  "Accidents Measures" Agreement signed.  Also, "Hot Line" Agreement gets hotter!!  
May 18, 1972:  Seabed Arms Control Treaty entered into force  
October 3, 1972:  ABM Treaty enters into force  
November 1972:  SALT II Negotiations Begin  
July 3, 1974:  Threshold Test Ban Treaty signed August 9, 1974:  Nixon resigns as President of the U.S.
October 7, 1974:  PNE Treaty negotiations begin  
 November 1974:  Vladivostok Agreement of SALT II  
June 18, 1979:  SALT II signed by Carter and Brezhnev January 3, 1980:  U.S.S.R. invades Afghanistan -- U.S. Senate SALT II deliberations postponed
July 17, 1984:  "Hot Line" Agreement gets, yes, that's right, still hotter!!  
September 15, 1987:  Nuclear Risk Reduction Centers Agreement signed  
June 1, 1988:  INF Treaty ratified  
December 11, 1990:  Threshold Test Ban Treaty and PNE Treaty enter into force  August 1991:  Coup d'etat in Moscow -- Gorbachev deposed for 3 days
January 1, 1992:  Communist flag replaced by pre-revolutionary Russia tsarist flag over the Kremlin -- Soviet Union ceases to exist

Yes, I know, you've been waiting for this part forever.  Now you get to hear my opinions about the arms control agreements and how I believe they have affected the world.  Please remember that these are my opinions, which could be, as unlikely as it seems, wrong.  I welcome any discussion on any points I have made, either agreeing or disagreeing.  Slanderous comments are not appreciated, though.  Click on the dude above to get my comments.
