Gary D. Miller received his Ph.D. in Nutrition from the University of California at Davis.

He teaches Exercise Physiology and Nutrition & Weight Control.

Dr. Miller is the undergraduate coordinator for the department.  Those interested in information regarding the HES major, please contact him at millergd@wfu.edu or 336-758-1901.  In addition, Dr. Miller serves as the faculty advisor for students in the Allied Health professions.  This includes careers such as physician assistant, physical therapist, pharmacist, nutritionist, public health, occupational therapist, nursing, etc.  Please contact him if you are interested in these health professions at millergd@wfu.edu or 336-758-1901. 

Dr. Miller’s research interests include the effects of exercise and dietary intervention on weight loss and weight maintenance; the role of leptin in obesity; the relationship of leptin with cardiovascular disease; and examining the effect of exercise training on food intake behaviors. Selected publications from the last five years and funded research activities.
