INTRODUCTION

· Have you ever had someone approach you about a personal problem?

· Have you noticed a change in a student's class attendance, appearance, emotional state, or demeanor?

· Have you been concerned for a student's welfare but unsure whether you should intervene or how to do so effectively?

· Are you unsure of available campus or community resources?

If so, we encourage you to contact the University Counseling Center (x5273), Student Health Services (x5218) or Natascha Romeo, Health Educator (x5937) for consultation about ways to help.

Community members can play an important role in helping students find assistance. At times of crisis in their lives, many students seek assistance from friends and adults who care for their welfare. They respect you, and often appreciate your interest. This brochure describes a range of problems that students may encounter, and discusses how to assist them.
