Third H1N1 flu vaccine letter

Nov. 10, 2009  |  WFU Communications and External Relations

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

Wake Forest has received approximately 500 doses of injectable H1N1 flu vaccine. The vaccine will be administered at a clinic Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Benson University Center, Room 401. The nasal mist form of the H1N1 vaccine will be administered at the same clinic, as previously announced.

All of those wishing to receive the vaccine must bring their University-issued identification card. Faculty and staff do not have to be a participant in the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan to receive the vaccine. They also are not required to bring their insurance cards. Registration is available through the Professional Development Center (PDC). To register for the vaccine, please go to http://pdc.wfu.edu/health_wellness/.

It is strongly encouraged that all interested faculty, staff and students register, as there will be very limited ability to accommodate walk-ins. At this time, the University is unable to offer the vaccine to spouses or children of faculty and staff or to retired faculty.

The injectable vaccine is available for pregnant women, anyone six months through 24 years of age, anyone 25 through 64 years of age with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system, people who live with or care for infants younger than six months of age, and health care and emergency medical personnel.

Faculty, staff and students who are age 49 and under, are not pregnant, and do not have underlying medical conditions (i.e. asthma or diabetes) are eligible for the nasal mist form of the vaccine.

If you have any additional questions or need information or assistance, faculty and staff please contact or 758-4700, and students please contact Residence Life and Housing at or 758-5185.

For information regarding future flu vaccine clinics, please check the H1N1 Web site at www.wfu.edu/h1n1flu or the Professional Development Center site at http://pdc.wfu.edu/health_wellness/. The University will no longer send messages by e-mail announcing the clinics.
