Dear colleagues,
As you may be aware, the University has seen an increase in the number of students with H1N1 influenza (flu) over the last several days. We are asking those with the illness to stay in their rooms/apartments to get well and to stop the spread of the virus.
I write to ask that you please encourage your students to avoid coming to class if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms (a fever of 100°F or higher, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body ache, headache, chills, unusual fatigue, diarrhea or vomiting). The virus appears to take four to five days to run its course, and it is important for the health and safety of our students and faculty that those with the illness avoid coming to class during this time. Please talk with your students and encourage them to take necessary precautions in order to remain well and to respect the wellbeing of those around them.
Thank you for your assistance!
Best regards,
Jill Tiefenthaler
Provost
