Grant P. McAllister, Ph.D.
Associate Professor

Greene, 330
Email: mcalligp@wfu.edu
Phone: 336-758-4023

Dr. McAllister received his PhD in 2001 from the University of Utah and began teaching at Wake Forest shortly thereafter.

Grant's primary research interests focus on eighteenth and nineteenth century literature, with specific emphasis on Heinrich von Kleist, early Romantic aesthetic and philosophical theory, and questions of gender and the formation of the subject. He has written and presented papers on Romanticism, Kleist, Lessing and Lola Rennt. He is currently working on a paper about Ludwig Tieck and translating Silvia Bovenschen's Imaginierte Weiblichkeit, which presents an influential study of presentations of women in the 18th and 19th century.

Most afternoons, if not in his office, Grant can be found exploring the rolling terrain of the Piedmont on his bike.
