  Kaffeestunde

Dates for Spring 2012

meinlAnyone who has spent some time in Vienna will recognize the Meinl logo featured on this page. What many might not realize is that "coffee culture" is rumored to have started in Vienna. After failing to capture the city during its siege, the Turks left their encampments, leaving not only the walls of Vienna, but also bags and bags of coffee beans. The Viennese wasted no time appropriating the favored drink of the Turks and gave it their own cultural flair that soon swept across Europe.

Twice a month the German Department sponsors and organizes "Kaffeestunde." This is a very informal and fun event that provides German students the opportunity to use their newly acquired language skills outside the structured environment of the classroom. Come and enjoy speaking German while playing games, eating food, and meeting other fellow German students. The event takes place on Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:00 PM on the dates below.
