Tax Guide For Foreign Visitors (PDF )
The purpose of this guide is to inform students, faculty and staff of the various rules and requirements of foreign visitors and the tax or immigration laws of the United States that pertain to foreign nationals. In addition, this tax guide is to serve as a tool for Wake Forest University personnel who interact with foreign students, faculty and visitors and help them understand the University processes which assist us in complying with these specialized regulations.

 

Foreign National Information Form (DOC )
This form must be completed before a foreign national can receive any form of payment (honorarium, scholarship, wages, or business-related reimbursement).

Form W-8BEN
This form is used to certify the identity, address and country of residence of a foreign vendor or visitor when a payment is to be made to the individual or company.  Tax Treaties for royalties, license fees, scholarships, prizes or other non-earned income can be requested on this form. To read and print these forms, you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader software, available at no charge from the Adobe Web site.
