Workers' Compensation

Type of Coverage

Covers employee injuries or work-related illnesses in the course of their employment. Benefits include payment of medical expenses from University approved providers and lost wages when your injury requires an extended period away from work.

Claims Reporting

When a claim or a potential claim occurs:

    1. Inform your supervisor within 30 days of the injury.
    2. Call or email Human Resources (x4945, x6127 fax, or carterad@wfu.edu).
    3. The employee and supervisor complete the Wake Forest University First Report of Incident.
    4. Forward the original report to Human Resources Department (you may keep copies for your records).

Documentation

    Effective claims' handling requires follow-up:

    1. The supervisor should conduct an investigation of the incident.
    2. In addition Scott Frazier can investigate the cause of the incident and recommend corrective measures to prevent further losses or to repair damaged areas.

Claims Management

Work together with Anjie Severo, Risk Management, School of Medicine, to ensure that the employee is receiving proper medical attention and is able to return to work as quickly as possible.
