Property

Type of Coverage

    Covers owned property for All Risk or loss including Flood & Earthquake with a general deductible of $50,000. The following exceptions apply to the deductible: Athletic Equipment - $15,000
    Musical Equipment - $15,000
    Fine Arts - $15,000
    Reynolda Village - $5,000
    Scientific Equipment - $15,000
    Books - $10,000
    Computers - $1,000

Claims Reporting

    When a claim or potential claim occurs:

    1. Protect area from further damage.
    2. Call, fax or email Safety & Environmental Affairs Office (ext. 4329, ext. 6060 fax, or frazie@wfu.edu).
    3. Complete Property Loss Notice. Click here for an example.
    4. Request copy of Police Report, if applicable.

Documentation

    Effective claims handling requires follow-up.
    1. Conduct an investigation of the occurrence and interview all witnesses
    2. Obtain estimates for repair/replacement of property.
    3. Prepare an inventory of damaged or stolen property.
    4. Forward this information to Julie Groves, Financial and Accounting Services, at ext.4197 or grovesjl@wfu.edu.

Claims Management
Financial and Accounting Services will coordinate the flow of information from the University to the Insurance carrier and make sure all involved personnel receive necessary feedback.
