Financial Aid

When filling out the payment card, please subtract the aid awarded in your letter from the financial aid office, excluding work study, from the balance due.

Financial Aid sends awards to FAS on the following schedule:

  • Institutional Scholarships are applied to the account at the start of each term. Students who qualify for the NCLTG must fill out an eligibility form each year.
  • Outside Scholarships are split evenly between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise instructed by the benefactor.
  • Perkins, Denmark and Hutchins loans are applied after a promissory note has been signed. If a Master Promissory Note has been signed there is no need to sign another unless the terms of the loans change.
  • Stafford and PLUS loans are applied upon the receipt of the funds from a lender. If you have chosen not to use a certified lender, students may be required to co-sign the check in order for the funds to be applied. Should this be necessary, students will receive an email to come to Reynolda 107 to sign the check.

Please note that if for any reason loans or scholarships are not received or are reduced, the parent/student is responsible for the balance due.

Student or parent borrowers of Federal Stafford or Federal Perkins Loans have the right to cancel all or a portion of the loan disbursement that has been credited to the student's account within the last thirty days, and that remains on the student's account, by requesting in writing to the Office of Student Financial Aid the cancellation or reduction of the disbursement within fourteen days of the date this notice was sent. Please be aware that canceling any aid, however, may result in unpaid charges and therefore may prevent enrollment.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid or call 336-758-5154.
