“Shorty’s now Open! - Final Phase Underway”

A major renovation of the Benson University Student Life Center, guided by a committee comprised of students, faculty and staff members has reached a major milestone – Shorty’s and Zoca’s along with the new exterior patio is now open for your dining pleasure. 
Walk in through our new south entrance – stop to visually sample a piece of  Wake history at the display case stocked by the Wake Museum – then experience Shorty’s new digs unique in many respects only to Wake Forest.  From the iconic sliding window shades and a woven wall, to the student speaking and entertaining stage and outdoor trellised area I firmly believe this renovation hit the mark as a welcoming crossroads of activity – and the food is excellent.
Having achieved a successful phase I & II completion we eagerly anticipate an on time reopening of the entire student life center as scheduled in August 20009.  Improvements to this last phase include new finishes, furniture and food venues.
When reopened, the new student life center will contain Chick-fil-A; World’s Fare, featuring alternating ethnic cuisines; Grab & Go, offering quick, convenience foods; and Energy Zone, a smoothie and shake venue.
Thanks again, for your patience and understanding during phase I and II construction  - please enjoy the welcoming Wake ambiance and cuisine in Shorty’s, have some Tex-Mex at  Zocas – and look forward with us to final completion in August!
