Filigree Nanotech
In response to the need for more stable and environmentally friendly batteries, Wake Forest MBA student Claude Hou started Filigree Nanotech filigreenanotech.com, a company that has developed an innovative manufacturing process for silver nanowires, which improve the performance of silver-zinc batteries. The company was born out of a vision Hou and his best friend, Chang Chen, had in college.

News from the OfficeThe Office of Entrepreneurship and Liberal Arts at Wake Forest University celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week, November 17-23, 2008, an initiative to promote innovation and the possibilities of entrepreneurship among young people across the globe. On Thursday, November 20, the BB&T Center for the Study of Capitalism, the Department of Sociology, and Women’s and Gender Studies, along with the Office of Entrepreneurship and Liberal Arts presented Guest Speaker Amanda Elam, who gave the address, “Business Start-Ups by Women: Cross-National Patterns and Institutional Influences.”
