Wake Forest installs outdoor emergency alert system Wake Forest University has installed a new outdoor alert system that will use a siren and prerecorded messages to warn the Reynolda Campus of emergencies ranging from a tornado to an armed intruder. The university tested it during winter break so that it would be in operation when classes resumed this month.

Police charge teenagers with two robberies near Wake Forest The Winston-Salem Police Department has charged two male teenagers with armed robbery in an Oct. 28 incident in which a female Wake Forest University student was robbed at gunpoint off-campus at Deacon Ridge, a housing complex on University Parkway.

Wake Forest charges two students with filing false report to police
Wake Forest University Police charged two Wake Forest students Nov. 12 with filing a false report of an armed robbery. The students reported that they had been robbed early in the morning on Nov. 6 as they jogged on a paved path that leads from Wake Forest’s Reynolda Campus to neighboring Reynolda Village.

University makes strides toward better emergency communication Since last fall semester, Wake Forest University has made significant strides in enhancing how it communicates promptly with students, staff and faculty in the event of an emergency on its Reynolda Campus. In addition, Wake Forest has a new system in place for communicating directly with local police, firefighters and other emergency first responders.

New ways to alert community to emergencies
The University will being using new ways to alert Reynolda Campus students, faculty and staff to emergencies and crises including sending text and voice messages to their cell phones and using the campus cable TV system to display messages.
