In North Carolina, the Alliance for Language Learning serves as an advocate and resource for

Parents
Communities
Educators
Businesses
Policymakers (State and local)

Our members enable us to continue to

  • Promote a statewide plan for model K-12 foreign language programs in North Carolina that are continuous in sequence, standards-based, and proficiency oriented.
  • Develop and support programs such as VISION 2010, a pilot program in North Carolina consisting of articulated foreign language instruction in the elementary grades through grade 12.
  • Attend meetings of the State Board of Education and meet with State Legislators to advocate for the foreign language programs North Carolina students need.
  • Increase awareness of political issues that affect foreign language education at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Preserve existing K–12 foreign language programs in North Carolina Public Schools.
