Wake Forest University is located in the city of Winston-Salem in central North Carolina and was recently ranked as one of the top 25 universities in the United States. To find out more about the university, visit www.wfu.edu. The website will describe the university but will not detail this particular VIF Master’s Degree Program. You will be applying for admission to the Reynolda campus.
It is a general graduate degree that consists of 11 courses (33 hours) offered over three summers. See the tentative course outline below:

The decision about your acceptance into the graduate program is made by the Graduate School and the Department of Education at Wake Forest University. VIF does not make that determination.
No. You will earn a master’s degree but will not receive a graduate teaching license. You currently have a temporary or a limited international teaching license to teach in your state. Completing the master’s degree will not grant you a higher level teaching certificate.
Yes. Because the fee structure has been negotiated for a minimum number of VIF teachers to participate in the graduate program, if you begin the program, you are obligated to complete and pay for the three years of course work.
Professional colleagues such as your principal/assistant principal and fellow teachers who know your ability to do graduate level work can complete the Recommendation Forms.
The GRE is the Graduate Record Exam – General Test that you will need to take as part of your application process. You can take it on a computer at test centers across your state (see attached list of testing sites). Call the Test Center near you as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to take the GRE- General Test. The code at Wake Forest to send your GRE scores is 5885. There are books you can use to study for the GRE at local bookstores. You may check www.gre.org for more information on the GRE as well as other test sites in your state.
Yes. Please try to take the GRE before you submit your application. If you cannot, submit a letter with your application stating when you have an appointment to take the GRE. You cannot be considered for admission until your GRE scores are submitted. Therefore, the earlier you take the GRE, the earlier you will know about your acceptance status. Remember that it takes from 4-6 weeks for the GRE scores to be sent to the university.
Yes. However, you will need to make arrangements for lodging near the university during the summer course work. See question below.
Yes. The cost of summer lodging on campus is approximately $110.00 per week for a double occupancy apartment. Your meals will be an extra cost.
Yes. However, in order to enroll in the last summer of course work, you will need to secure a student visa to return to the US for those two months. It will be your responsibility to secure the student visa.
You will be notified about the registration process and dates upon acceptance in the program.
You will pay the tuition fees during the registration process in June.

You will receive a medical form upon acceptance into the graduate program.
You will need to read the instructions and submit the form to the appropriate address as indicated on the form by the first day of summer school.
The “Conditions of Application” form outlines VIF responsibilities as well as your responsibilities for participation in the master’s degree program at Wake Forest University. Please review, sign and return one of the copies with your application materials to VIF.
You may send in your application as soon as you have completed it. However, it must be submitted by January 15. Make sure to include your check for $25.00 payable to Wake Forest University for the application fee.
