SECONDARY EDUCATION - SCIENCE (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) (9-12)

Prospective secondary science teachers major in the science and minor in Education. .
The Licensure minor is 26 hours and leads to a North Carolina teaching license. The Non-licensure minor, which does not include student teaching, is 14 hours. See advising checklists.
Biology: Thirty-four hours in Biology, which include Biology 112, 113, 213 and 214, and at least two 300-level four-hour biology courses. Chemistry 111, 120 (or 223) and 122, Physics 113, 114, and one course in mathematics or physical science at the 200 level.
Chemistry: Twenty-seven and a half (27.5) hours in Chemistry which include 111, 111L, 122, 122L, 223, 223L, 230, 260, 334, 344, 361 and 361L. Co-requisites are Mathematics 111, 112; and Physics 113, 114.
Physics: Twenty-five hours in physics which include Physics 113, 114, 141, 162, 165, 166, and 230. The remaining six hours may be satisfied with any 300-level physics courses; A co-requisite is Mathematics 251.
