Note: These instructions utilize the JVC dual-deck VCR that is already connected to the Pioneer DVD Recorder. Instructions on recording a DVD directly from a video camera are also available. Preparations You’ll need:
- MiniDV source tape (with your video footage on it)
- Blank DVD-R disc (preferably Imation, Sony, or Verbatim brand; must be rated for no more than 4X speed, must be DVD-R, NOT DVD+R)
The Pioneer DVD recorder and JVC dual-deck (MiniDV and VHS) VCR are already connected to each other and to the TV, and should NOT need to be modified. Turn on the TV, the Pioneer DVD recorder and the JVC dual-deck VCR. You should see a blue screen on the TV, with “L-1” in the top left corner. (This verifies that everything is still connected correctly.) Insert your MiniDV tape into the MiniDV slot of the JVC VCR. Use the JVC controls to cue up the first section of footage you want to transfer to DVD. Recording the DVD Note that the round button that says Enter in the middle is also a joystick, used to navigate through choices. Press the button to select a highlighted option.
