How Can I Record
A DVD Of My Teaching Video?
The Department owns
a Pioneer DVD Recorder which may be used by students and faculty
to record onto a DVD video of student teaching, conference footage,
or other video that is relevant to the department and its programs.
The recorder will accept input from any video device that will
output standard video formats (this includes all of the digital
video cameras the department owns, as well as most VCRs, and
other video devices).
Please refer to the
following photos for details about how to connect a video device
to the DVD recorder.
For details on how
to record a DVD, please consult the DVD
Recorder Howto.

How Do I Use the
Remote to Move Between On-Screen Menus?
The Pioneer DVD
Recorder has a unique remote control, which is needed for
most of the functions of the DVD recorder. Unfortunately,
it's not easy to recognize that the center of the circular
portion of the remote actually has a small joystick in it.
(It looks like a button labeled Menu, which it is, but it
is also a joystick to be used to navigate the on-screen menus.)
It is very difficult
to use one's thumb on this 'joystick' control to successfully
navigate the menus, as this is also a button, and it's difficult
not to press inwards while attempting to tilt it. For easier
control of the joystick, try hooking your fingernail under
one edge of the joystick, and lift the joystick gently to
tilt the joystick in the opposite direction, and move the
on-screen cursor. This will prevent you from accidentally
pressing the button instead of simply moving the on-screen
selection. Please refer to
the following diagram to locate the joystick control in the
center of the remote.
