features.txt Features of emtexgi 2.07 beta: Emtexgi is a Windows graphical interface to emTeX and various other Windows-based TeX programs for the PC. This version (2.07) is the latest in a series of incremental updates to version 2.0, which offers several features beyond the previous general release, 1.04 beta. Since version 2.0 I have designed the program with an eye to the automatic integration of TeX components. There is therefore a full guide to the installation of an integrated TeX system (install.txt), and a DOS batch file (emtex.bat) which automates the process, assuming only that the user is willing to assemble a collection of relevant zipfiles from Internet ftp sites (which are fully specified as of the time of writing). Emtex.bat tailors installation to either Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 (or NT). Courtesy of Rainer Schnitker's rsxwin 3.10, long filenames are supported under Windows 95 and NT. The emtexgi.exe binary is supplied in both 16- and 32-bit versions. By following install.txt, and using emtex.bat along with emtexgi, you will get... * Automatic building of TeX/LaTeX formats and Metafont bases. * Automatic unpacking of the LaTeX2e tools package, if you choose to download l2tools.zip. * A choice of 600 dpi postscript or 1200 dpi (as with the increasingly popular Lexmark Optra line of printers). [Note: If you use a non-postscript printer you can print to it from Dviwin, without using the dvips driver.] * Automatic setup of the texcad drawing program, if you download texcad.zip * Automatic generation of missing fonts, based on both dviwin and dvips. * Support for AMSTeX/AMSLaTeX, for the Babel multilingual package for TeX, and for the LaTeX graphics package. * Support for ispell, a TeX-aware spelling checker. ...plus various more obscure TeX-related utilites via emtexgi's menus.
