Piedmont Triad Research Park (PTRP)
Provides core connectivity to accelerate technology commercialization such as with the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine led by Dr. Anthony Atala and spinout companies such as Tengion and its NeoBladder™. Wake Forest ranked by Miliken Institute among the top 100 in the world in ability to bring biotech research to the marketplace.
Leverages Wake Forest University Health Sciences’ Centers of Excellence including public health sciences, clinical trials, nanotechnology, biomolecular imaging, human genomics, neurology, and lipid sciences.
Is currently home to over 40 Companies with a global population exceeding 800 including an medical device accelerator known as SpringMed.   Anchor biopharmaceutical tenant, Targacept consistently ranks as top VC invested company in the state including collaborations with GSK and Astra Zeneca.
Recently opened the Wet Lab LaunchPad ™ in collaboration with the NC Biotechnology Center and community leaders to  provide affordable laboratory space for emerging life sciences companies.
Is part of the newly formed NC Research Parks Network with PTRP Director, Bill Dean as chairman.

The Center for Design Innovation
The Center for Design Innovation is a University of North Carolina interinstitutional collaboration between the North Carolina School of the Arts and Winston-Salem State University, partnering with Forsyth Technical Community College. CDI fosters cross-disciplinary research and entrepreneurial activity related to design and innovation, provides educational programming focused on design and innovation, and acts as a design-based business cluster accelerator, to make the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina a recognized center of design across the country.
