We all had an amazing time exploring Vienna. The Flow House is a beautiful house situated in the Diplomatic District (19th District) of Vienna. It is a huge yellow house (yellow is the imperial color of the ruler) with an upstairs filled with bedrooms. On the main floor is a classroom, dining room, kitchen with breakfast nook, living room, and library (with internet connections!). Descending the stairs (lined with shoes) one will find another group of bedrooms for the professors and their families, as well as a laundry area. It was an amazing place to learn and live. We experienced the city - Mass with the Vienna Boys' Choir (2 times!), Prater Park with the famous Ferris wheel, Schonbrunn Palace, Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Melk Abbey, the Opera (Romeo and Juliet in the first box for 9 euros!), Stephansdom (with all its stairs to climb to the top of the belltower) and the square around (with many street performers and Manner wafers). We met Elly Frankl and visited for a time in her apartment that she had shared with her husband, Viktor Frankl. We also enjoyed glorious food at Centimeter Restaurant, Rosenberger, and in the town of Grinzing. I sampled a Viennese beer at Fischer Brau. The Freud Museum gave us a glimpse into Freud's life and the Belvedere Museum gave us a glimpse into the world of art. A boat cruise on the Danube showed us life on the river. We found our way around the city via the subway (U-Bahn), tram (especially around the Ringstrasse), and bus (42A right outside our house). The trip was a learning experience unrivaled by any other. The city showed me so much and for that I will always be grateful!
Thanks for the memories!
