Faculty to Receive Awards at 2010 ACA Conference

Donna Henderson has been selected to receive ACA Fellow status at the ACA Convention in Pittsburgh. Fellow status is based on achievement in the areas of leadership and service to others. Sam Gladding will receive the Arthur A. Hitchcock Distinguished Professional Service Award which is given to honor service to the profession of counseling over a number of years.

Donna Henderson Serves as President of Chi Sigma Iota

Donna Henderson served as president of Chi Sigma Iota (International Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society). Within the last year, she has traveled to Mexico and to Bhutan to train Mental Health Facilitators in a week long session that uses a curriculum she wrote. She also served as the key-note speaker at an international school counselor's conference in Turkey..

Sam Gladding Appointed to NC Board of Licensed Professional Counselors

Sam Gladding was appointed by the governor as a board member of the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. He was also awarded a Senior Fulbright Lectureship. Gladding current serves as a Trustee for the American Counseling Association (ACA) Foundation and as an editorial board member of the flagship periodical of ACA: the Journal of Counseling and Development.

Debbie Newsome Chair of Master's Task Force for Grad School

Debbie Newsome is completing service as the chair of the Master's Task Force for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She just completed a term as the chairman of the WFU Institutional Review Board.

Laura Veach Accepts New Positions at WFUBMC and the Univeristy of North Carolina-Charlotte

In July 2009, Laura Veach accepted a position at UNCC as Associate Professor working with Addiction Counseling Specialty Track. However, she will still be associated with WFU as she also received an appointment as Associate Professor with the Department of Surgical Sciences, Wake Forest University School of Medicine where she will continue participating in the Alcohol Screening & Brief Intervention research in the WFU Baptist Medical Center Trauma Center.
