Annegret F. Hannawa
Assistant Professor
Carswell Hall - Rm 321
(336) 758-4847

Ph.D., Arizona State University
Health Communication, Empirical Research Methods

Dr. Hannawa’s research program reflects a variety of interests in the dark side of interpersonal interaction, with particular foci on health communication and quantitative methodology. Most recently, she developed a theoretical model of Physician Mistake Disclosure that is currently in press in Health Communication. Dr. Hannawa is attempting to validate components of her model using multi-level and dyadic doctor-patient data, with the goal of introducing the model as a training tool to the medical field. Dr. Hannawa’s research also encompasses the development and validation of measurement scales using advanced quantitative approaches such as structural equation modeling and item response theory.

Dr. Hannawa’s two most recent publications include:

Hannawa, A. F. (in press). Negotiating medical virtues: Toward the development of a Physician Mistake Disclosure (PMD) model. Health Communication.
Hannawa, A. F., & Spitzberg, B. H. (in press). A cross-validation of the Relational Entitlement and Proprietariness (REP) scale. Communication Methods and Measures.
