On Campus Recruiting for Students

There are several components to the on-campus interview program - resume drop with preselection, open sign-up, job postings, and resume referrals.

A resume drop with preselection occurs when a company posts a job vacancy with the Office of Career Services. Interested candidates who feel they meet the company's qualifications can "drop" (through ECHO) a resume and any other required material for consideration. After the "drop" deadline, the company will review the resumes and decide which students they wish to interview. It is the responsibility of the student to frequently check ECHO for notification of preselection. If you are preselected, you may then sign up for an interview time.

Open sign-up occurs when openings exist in an on-campus interview schedule and the company chooses to make these open slots available to other interested students. Students who feel they meet the qualifications for the position may then sign-up for
interview times. The open sign-up option is on a first-come, first-served basis. It is the responsibility of the student to frequently review the on-campus interview calendar on ECHO for these opportunities.

Resume referrals are available for companies who have position openings but can't come to campus to conduct interviews. Companies will post these openings electronically through the ECHO system and interested students may "drop" resumes. If companies wish to interview students, they will contact the students directly or they can establish an on-campus interview by speaking with the Recruiting Coordinator.

Job postings are available in binders within the Career Resource Center. A representative sample of these jobs will be listed on ECHO and accessible 24 hours a day. These position vacancies are available year-round with numerous postings received weekly. Students who are interested in general job postings must make direct application to the company, following the specifics from the job posting.

Eligibility
To participate in on-campus interviewing, a student must be registered with the office. Students are registered when they have been granted log-on capability for the ECHO program.

On-campus recruitment occurs in the fall semester from mid-September to November 30 and for the spring from late January to April 30. Students graduating in December will want to interview heavily in the fall semester. Once a student has accepted a job offer, he/she must notify the Office of Career Services and must cancel future campus interviews.

Schedule
A calendar of all recruitment activities (interviews and informational sessions) is available online through the ECHO program.

Company Literature
Recruiting literature is available for some companies in the Career Resource Center, Room 10, Reynolda Hall, for company research prior to interviews. A complete research effort would include company literature, web resources, periodicals, and more.

Cancellation/No-show Policy
Students who sign-up for interviews are expected to keep their appointments. To cancel an interview, 24-hour notification must be given and permission granted by the Career Services Recruiting Coordinator (758-5246). Regardless of the reason for missing an interview, an apology note must be written to the recruiter and a copy given to the Career Services Recruiting Coordinator. If a student fails to provide a copy of his/her apology letter to the recruiting coordinator, future on-campus interviews will be prohibited. Excessive "no-shows" (two or more) will be grounds for suspension of interview privileges.
