5th Annual Gauntlet Adventure Event
On Saturday, April 18th, 2009, Outdoor Pursuits will present the 5th Annual Gauntlet Adventure Event to
the Wake Forest University community. This 4-5 hour event will expose participants to the resources and beauty
that Pilot Mountain State Park River Section has to offer. This control point style event will test participants
mentally and physically as they bike, hike, and paddle through some of NC's best land and river terrain. Teams will be
2-person style, grouped into categories of Men's, Women's, and Co-Ed.
Price is $80 per team, but please check back for updates on the Gauntlet. If you would like to put your name

The 2009 Gauntlet will be held on Saturday, April 18th. The weather back-up day will
be Sunday, April 19th, with all the same times below.

Outdoor Pursuits will provide all of the following to each racer:

What To Bring
Prepare to get wet, dirty, and muddy during the race! Each racer will need to bring the following :
Proper Clothing for Expected Weather
1 Day Pack (per team)
Water Bottle
Water (there is NO potable water on-site)
Race Food (bars, fruit, etc)
Cell Phone in Waterproof Container
Mountain Bike in good condition and Helmet (1 for each racer)
Camping Equipment (if camping with us the night before)
Accomodations
Outdoor Pursuits will be camping Friday, Apr 17 (the night before) at Pilot Mountain State Park River Section. If
you want to join us, the cost will be $1 per camper. Please plan on arriving at the campground
between 5pm and 8pm. Also, please email Mark at henleyme@wfu.edu so we can estimate numbers.

Locations and Directions
The Gauntlet will begin in the group campground, which is also where we will camp Friday night. It is approximately Point B
on the map below. It is located down a dirt road that leads south off of Hauser Rd/Hwy 2072. Before you reach the group
campsite, there is a creek crossing you have to DRIVE THROUGH! If your car cannot do this, you can park at the parking lot located
on the south side of Hauser Rd/Hwy 2072 to the west of the turn-off of the dirt road.
