A Promise Honored: Capital Campaign Surpasses Goal

Since launching the Honoring the Promise campaign in 1999, alumni, parents and friends have exceeded our hopes. The campaign came to a successful completion on June 30, and we are pleased to announce $689,457,953 has been raised for students, faculty and facilities.

The success of the Honoring the Promise campaign is due to the loyalty and generosity of donors who made a commitment to the future of Wake Forest. More than 45,000 members of the Wake Forest family made gifts during this campaign, for a total of nearly 270,000 individual gifts. Combining the Annual Fund gifts from thousands of donors provided about $5 million in operating funds each year, the equivalent of $100 million in new endowment.

By surpassing our campaign goal, donors ensured future generations of scholars will benefit from the Wake Forest experience. Nearly 400 new scholarships were created and 437 previous scholarships were augmented during the campaign.

Excellence in teaching is at the heart of Wake Forest's mission. Our faculty is committed to Wake Forest's model of teacher-scholars, working to educate and mentor students, inspiring them to explore in the classroom and beyond. During the campaign, 249 new faculty funds were created and 80 previous faculty funds were augmented.

A small portion of the campaign funds provided for campus expansion. The Reynolda Campus saw 156, 212 square feet of new space during the campaign with the construction of Miller Center and Greene Hall and the acquisition of the Flow House. Two existing Reynolda Campus facilities were expanded during the campaign, the Kirby Wing of Calloway Center and the Divinity School addition to Wingate Hall, for a total of 52,410 square feet.

Several campus spaces were named through gifts to the campaign, including Manchester Hall of the Calloway Center, Manchester Plaza, Manchester Athletic Center, Martin Hall and the Young Spirit Walk.

The completion of this campaign is a great achievement and a testament to the love and loyalty that alumni, parents, and friends have for Wake Forest. Each gift, no matter the amount, made a lasting impact. We sincerely appreciate your support and thank you for honoring the promise.
