How Humor Can Help Keep You Healthy (Personal Progression)
|
| Date: |
Wednesday, March 6, 2013 |
| Time: |
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM |
| Location: |
Room 301, Reynolda Hall |
| Description: |
Dr. Sam Gladding will tell us why humor is good for our physical and mental health. When we laugh, our muscles are activated, oxygen floods the blood, the cardiovascular system dilates, and the brain releases endorphins that increase our sense of well-being. In addition, humor reduces tension and stress, makes life fun, fosters creativity, promotes problem-solving, and helps us realize and appreciate the realities of life. Humor can also be a safety value for the expression of strong feelings in a positive and productive way. It can offer us perspective and balance as well as assist us in coping.
Participants should come with the expectation of having a good time and learning something practical.
Open to: Alumni, Community, Faculty, Family of Faculty/Staff, Graduate Students, Retirees, Staff, Students |
