Motivating Students: What You Need to Know

Event details

Date: Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Time: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Location: Room 301, Reynolda Hall
Description: Motivation in a higher education setting is extremely complex, especially given the need for grades and the students' obsession with those grades. In this workshop we will examine a model of motivation from How Learning Works, based on learning research, which will allow us to analyze students' learning behaviors as signals of their motivational status, and to identify ways to enhance any of three key variables to improve motivation.

"All About Motivation" Series

The TLC spring 2013 workshop series is themed around the topic of motivation. Motivating students is a complex task and the overwhelming emphasis on grades can make it even harder to find ways to reach students and create a genuine excitement about learning.
