Winding Down, Gearing Up!: Enhancing Teaching and Learning Through Museums
|
| Date: |
Friday, December 14, 2012 |
| Time: |
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM |
| Location: |
Room 301, Reynolda Hall |
| Description: |
As the semester winds down it is a great time to reflect on the successes and challenges of our teaching. We know that spring semester will be upon us before it seems really possible, so it is helpful to use our end-of-semester reflections to inform our course preparations for spring. In these Winding Down, Gearing Up! workshops we offer the opportunity to take the time to capture your thoughts on changes needed in future courses, to think about that new course you will be teaching or to re-think the one you'll be re-teaching!
Museum of Anthropology Director Stephen Whittington will provide an overview of how museums can enhance teaching for faculty and learning for students in many academic fields. He will discuss object-based teaching, exhibits, internships, and databases and will provide concrete examples of successful integration of museum resources into courses at Wake Forest. Join us for this informative discussion, with lunch provided by the TLC.
