Winding Down, Gearing Up!: Creating Assignments and Assessing Learning

Event details

Date: Friday, December 14, 2012
Time: 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Room 301, Reynolda Hall
Description: As the semester winds down it is a great time to reflect on the successes and challenges of our teaching. We know that spring semester will be upon us before it seems really possible, so it is helpful to use our end-of-semester reflections to inform our course preparations for spring. In these Winding Down, Gearing Up! workshops we offer the opportunity to take the time to capture your thoughts on changes needed in future courses, to think about that new course you will be teaching or to re-think the one you'll be re-teaching!

Do you have any troublesome assignments in your courses? Do students complain that they don't know how to complete an assignment, but you feel like you've made yourself perfectly clear? Are you looking for assignment ideas for a new course? During this session, we'll explore ways to create and evaluate assignments that will satisfy both you and your students.

Feel free to bring existing assignments for review or ideas for new assignments to share.
