Description: Michelle Stephens, author of Black Empire: The Masculine Global Imaginary of Caribbean Intellectuals in the United States, 1914-1962, will discuss race, sexuality and performance and will draw upon her current monographs, Skin Acts: Race, Psychoanalysis and Black Male Performance and Women in Worlds of Color. Stephens is an Associate Professor of English at Rutgers University.
