Teaching Philosophy Workshop
|
| Date: |
November 3, 2009 |
| Time: |
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM |
| Location: |
Room 410, Benson Center |
| Description: |
The Statement of Teaching Philosophy is now a standard component of one's professional portfolio. Yet, you may have asked yourself, "Do I really have one?" "What is a teaching philosophy?" "Why is it important to have one anyway?" You may even have been in the unenviable position of having had to assess one without any idea of how to do so!
This workshop is devoted to helping individuals construct their own statement. We will focus the session on five broad questions:
* What are your objectives as a teacher?
* By what methods will you achieve or work toward those objectives?
* How do you intend to measure your effectiveness vis-a-vis your objectives and methods?
* Why is teaching important?
* How do you want to make a difference in the lives of your students?
Please RSVP no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, if you would like a boxed lunch provided by the TLC, and be sure to select a specific lunch choice when you register.
