Building, Lab, and Classroom Space: The Biology Department is housed in Winston Hall, a 60,000 sq.ft. building on the southern edge of Wake Forest's Reynolda Campus. Winston Hall contains 19 modern research laboratories, a graduate student computer lab with a full-time computer specialist, and a SEM and video microscopy suite with a full-time imaging specialist. Spacious indoor and outdoor animal care facilities are available for housing small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish and a three-bay temperature-controlled 800 square foot greenhouse houses plant experiments. The department has excellent teaching facilities with two state-of-the-art multimedia auditoria, two additional multimedia lecture rooms, 12 teaching laboratories, and three multimedia seminar rooms. All research and teaching space is fully connected to the campus high-speed network via 802.11a/b/g wireless access points in addition to gigabit ethernet in selected locations. Graduate students have offices within research laboratories or in nearby office space.
