Female 6 took a trip of almost three weeks to the Peruvian coast from May 2 to May 23. She flew as far south as 12o S along the coast. We did not get very many satellite signals from her when she was in the coastal area. Sometimes that happens, maybe because a particular bird tends to put itself in a poor position for transmitting to the satellites. Female 3 had a funny little "pre-trip". Before heading to the Peruvian coast she made a short trip of two days to the west of the Galápagos Islands, then returned to the Galápagos area, and THEN finally left for good on a direct flight to the coast. We don't know what she was doing on that first little excursion. |
