Don
Steelman, now in his 11th season at Wake Forest, is one of the most
important members of the football staff in his role as the assistant
athletic trainer in charge of football. Steelman works on a personal
basis with the Demon Deacon players in the prevention, treatment and
rehabilitation of injuries on a daily basis throughout the entire
year. Steelman also serves as the treasurer and Director of the Atlantic
Coast Conference Sports Medicine Annual Symposium.
For nine years prior to coming to Wake Forest, Steelman served as
an assistant athletic trainer at the University of North Carolina,
where he was the assistant trainer for the football program. He received
both his undergraduate and master's degrees from UNC, and began his
career in sports medicine as a student athletic trainer with the Tarheel
football team.
Steelman and his wife Pam, have two children, Ashlyn and Rhett.
