Staff Profile

Scott Spernoga, in his 10th season at Wake Forest,
serves as the primary athletic trainer for the Demon Deacon field
hockey and women's basketball teams.
Spernoga has been Wake Forest field hockey's athletic
trainer during a stretch of five straight NCAA Final Fours, two Atlantic
Coast Conference titles and National Championships in 2002, 2003 and
2004.
A 1997 graduate of Penn State University, Spernoga earned
his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine. Spernoga
served as an athletic trainer with the football, women's basketball
and baseball teams at Penn State.
Spernoga obtained his master's degree in Sports Medicine
from the University of Virginia in 1998. During his time at UVA, Spernoga
was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Fork Union Military Academy
where he worked with the football and basketball teams.
Spernoga is a member of the National Athletic Trainers
Association, Atlantic Coast Conference Sports Medicine Association
and North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Spernoga resides
in Winston-Salem.
