Directions
A retrospective exhibition representing a wide of approaches to photography.
Organized by the University of Virginia Art Museum. Sam Abell has
been a photographer for National Geographic since 1970. He is a member
of the Board of Trustees of the George Eastman House, Rochester, NY,
and the Santa Fe Center for the Visual Arts, were he teaches. He is
represented by the Kathleen Ewing Gallery, Washington D.C. (Book: Sam
Abell: The Photographic Life published in 2002 accompanies the
exhibition).
