Tell us about yourself.
I love to watch football and am a die-hard Cowboys fan. I probably know more about football than most of my guy friends.
What are your plans after graduation?
I took a job with AmeriCorps in Los Angeles and will be doing 10 months of service there. After that, I will apply to grad schools for a dual degree in social work and counseling.
Have your plans changed over the last four years?
I planned to be a psychology major and Spanish minor and to follow a pre-med course curriculum because I wanted to be a psychiatrist. But now I plan to get my masters in social work and counseling.
How have you grown during the last four years?
When I first arrived on campus, I thought it was going to be academics 24/7. But I managed to find time to build meaningful relationships with my professors, advisors, mentors, fellow classmates and members of the community. As a result, I learned much about myself and had a lot of fun along the way.
Why did you choose Wake Forest?
I heard about Wake Forest’s great field hockey team. (I played a lot of field hockey in high school.) Then, I found out they have a great psychology program, so I’m glad I stayed!
What was your favorite class?
Race and Ethnic Relations taught by Dr. Ana Wahl. In that class, I engaged in meaningful dialogue with both the professor and my classmates, which allowed me to appreciate and enjoy the perspectives that people of other races have on diversity.
What was your most meaningful extra-curricular experience?
Last summer, I interned at Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life because of the wealth of knowledge I gained, the people I met, and the relationships that I made and will continue to keep.
What makes a Wake Forest education unique?
Wake Forest prepares students for the real world both in and out of the classroom. I feel that I have been fully equipped to move on to my next stage in life, both personally and professionally.
What’s your favorite memory of the last four years?
Wake Forest Demon Deacons go to the Orange Bowl! I was at both the ACC Championship vs. Georgia Tech in Jacksonville, Fla., and in Miami, and they were both electrifying moments.
What will you miss most about Wake Forest?
I will miss the close-knit community of my friends and various faculty and staff that I have created deep relationships with and that I communicated with on a daily basis. Especially since I’m moving across the country!
Words of advice for incoming freshmen…
