Treasures from a Moravian Attic: Native American Objects from the Wachovia Historical Society

Great Plains

Can you find something that you might wear on your head? (Eagle feather headdress). This headdress is not worn anymore, but a long time ago it was worn by a man on the Great Plains to show how important he was. Can you think of any things we wear to show that we are important? (ex: Medals or awards, business suits, crowns…)

Sometimes head

dresses like this

 are still worn at

 special celebrations

 called pow-wows.

 At pow-wows

Native Americans

 enjoy dancing,

singing, playing

games and visiting

with friends.
