Fanchon Cordell received her early training at the Harkness Ballet School under Maria Vegh and David Howard where she was on full scholarship. She began her professional career with Ballet Repertory Company and also with Eglevsky Ballet on a US tour with Galina and Valerie Panov. As a member of American Ballet Theatre, she danced soloist roles in ballets "Swan Lake", Giselle" and "Concerto" and has worked with choreographers George Balanchine, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Agnes de Mille, Antony Tudor and Twyla Tharpe. Fanchon is currently a faculty member at the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she recently received an "Excellence in Teaching Award".
