PROGRAM

The purpose of this first seminar is to help new, returning, and prospective students (including both undergraduate and graduate students), faculty, and staff to become acquainted with each other and with the Physics Department. In particular, we will welcome Fred Salsbury, our newest faculty member whose specializes in the modeling of biological molecules and in the famous "protein folding" problem. Also, we will welcome our new undergraduate physics majors and and prospective physics majors and minors. After refreshments in the lounge in the lobby of Olin Physical Laboratory (3:30-4:00 PM), we will meet in the George P. Williams, Jr. Lecture Hall (Olin 101) for some important announcements. Following the announcements, several returning undergraduate physics majors will tell us about some of their summer research experiences.
